Canopy tour in Tsitsikama

Country : South Africa
Outdoor activity : Canopy Tour
Sustainable tourism rating : écotourisme-5-SOL

This time we chose a family activity that will make you spend an awsome afternoon in the indigenous rainforest. The Canopy Tour is an activity similar to the acrobranche but consisting in a series of zip lines above the trees.

In South Africa, there is a whole network of Canopy Tours so you can enjoy this activity all around the country. Surf on a leaf’s team has chose the Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour located in the indigenous rainforest of the majestic Garden Route.

We were greeted by a welcoming and professional team that has explained the safety rules. What impressed us most is to see that the company keeps only 43% of the profits and the rest is reinvested in community projects. We say YES to this great initiative!

After the briefing, we hop in the truck for the canopy tour. We started with two shorter zip lines to warm up and then shifted into high gear on zip lines much long and fast. In total 10 zip lines and a bridge in impressive scenery.

The tour can last between 1:30 to 2 hours, depending on the group size (from 2 to 8 people) followed by a quick meal offered at the restaurant next to the headquarters of Stormsriver Adventures. Allow 3 hours for this activity (briefing, zip lines and meals).

If you love the wilderness and want to discover the richness of these ancient forests this activity is for you!
