Millau is close to the climbers’ paradise ! You can enjoy different dramatic seneries of the Tarn, Jonte and Dourbie’s Gorges, all surrounded by hundreds of climbing routes for all levels. Most of these climbing routes are easily accessible and the areas are well indicated.
The different area climbing maps (you can find them at the Tourism office or in this website) will give you all the necessary information (difficulty, access …). However, we advise you to speek with the other climbers. They will give you all the advice and tips you need. This way you can enjoy the sport but also you meet interesting people who share the same hobby as you. In the Tarn’s gorges, all around the Pas de Souci, different sectors are indicated by summary panels along the road (see photo).
Note that it is not possible to rent climbing equipment and should therefore come prepared with your own material. If you have no equipment, you will find many guides in the area who will offer to accompany you and to rent the material needed for 30 € half day or 60 € a day (a little more expensive if you want to test a difficult route.
When you finish climbing, you can go for a drink or for dinner at Golf Millau Bar where you can meet climbers all over the region and also many other sportsmen (paragliding, caving …).
If you wish to practice indoor climbing before heading out on the cliffs, we recommend the Couleur Cailou climbing gym in Millau, a reference in the region. Finally, do not miss the Naturals Games (international outdoor festival) that takes place every year late June in Millau.
If you like climbing, SOL team highly recommends the Tarn’s Canyon, it suits for every level ! (free climbing or artificial climbing with very difficult routes) .
There are many paths for all levels
Large choice for outdoor sports in the area (canoeing, mountain biking, caving, canyoning …)
Very favorable climate
People from the 4 corners of the world
You can not rent the equipment if you want to climb by yourself. You must either have a guide either come with your own material
